St. James' Church, Reading

St. James' Church stands near to the east end of the Forbury Gardens and close to the ruins of Reading Abbey. The Church is built in the Romanesque style, with the decoration of the arches of the doors and windows strongly influenced by the Norman styles which would have been used on the now ruined Abbey. The Church was opened in 1840. The architect was A.W.N. Pugin.
