Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

Although Shakespeare's Globe Theatre rightly has a worldwide following for its history and culture, the present building is a replica. The original wooden Globe Theatre was burned to the ground in the early 17th century, when cannons were used in a performance of the author's Henry Vlll play.
