Description

Chelsea Old Church and Statue of Sir Thomas More

Chelsea Old Church dates from 1157, even though the exterior appears modern. The external brickwork was necessary to strengthen the building following severe bomb damage in World War II. The statue in front of the Church is of Sir Thomas More, who was Chancellor to King Henry VIII and was martyred for opposing the split from Rome.
