Winchester's Statue of King Alfred the Great on The Broadway

King Alfred the Great's statue was erected on Winchester's Broadway in 1899, to celebrate 1000 years since the death of this great hero. Alfred fought against the invading Vikings in many battles and on his death, was buried in the city.
