a Historic Market Town in the county of Norfolk

About Acle

Acle, meaning “clearing in an oak forest” is a small but attractive market town situated near the River Bure, in the Norfolk Broads. It sits midway between the historic city of Norwich and the coastal resort town of Great Yarmouth and is a sought after place to live in the region. Once an important Roman port long before the town of Great Yarmouth existed, Acle is well worth a visit, and has an interesting history all of its own. A market is still held in Acle every Thursday.
