Description

The Southern Belle at Berney Arms

The Gorleston and Great Yarmouth Steam Packet company is a very small (father and son) operation out of Great Yarmouth using a converted pleasure cruiser built in 1925. This small boat can take up to 100 people on board and during the summer months operates scenic trips and charters along the rivers and broads of East Anglia. The trip pictured is a special charter for the Chief Executive and management board of the RSPB; whose reserves are located at Berney Arms, Cantley, Buckenham and Strumpshaw. Berney Arms takes its name from Thomas Tench Berney, a farmer on the Norfolk fens from 1825 to 1877. He owned the land that the mill and the remote railway were built on. The area is still served by 4 trains Mon-Sat and 8 on Sundays from Norwich and Great Yarmouth.

Whilst holidaying on the broads we moored our craft here to take a look. there was a strong cross breeze, I struggled to get the boat away from the banking lol.
