Description

Rievaulx Abbey

The impressive ruins of the former Cistercian Abbey taken from the terrace above. Founded in 1132 it was one of the wealthiest in the land until it was dissolved in 1538 by good old Henry VIII. On our recent Yorkshire holiday. July 2014
