Blickling Hall, Norfolk
Blickling Hall, Norfolk - by David Swann ©

Blickling Hall, Norfolk

Blickling Hall is a stately home located near the village of the same name just north of Aylsham in Norfolk. The property was once in the possession of the Boleyn family and home to Anne Boleyn, one of the ill-fated wives of Henry VIII. The present house was built on the ruins of the Boleyn property in the 17th century, and is now owned by the National Trust. The photograph shows the 18th-century listed stone fountain which sits in the Parterre garden on the east lawn, with the east wing of the house in the background. Blickling has extensive gardens and grounds which warrant exploration on a fine day. It is said that every year, on the anniversary of her execution, Anne Boleyn's headless ghost arrives at Blickling in a carriage driven by an equally headless coachman!
