Many Americans in particular, have told me how they saved a lot of money by booking their hotel via www.PicturesOfEngland.com So whether you are planning a holiday in the UK, or Europe you will save money by booking through this website. Yes, they get a small commission, but you get your hotel cheaper than going direct to the hotel, and I get my www.cslewistours.com website looked after free of charge as POE's contribution to what I am trying to achieve here in Oxford.....that is to preserve the Lewis legacy!! Start your search for England, UK and/or Europe accommodation by clicking on the following link www.picturesofengland.com/hotels/ and never look back!

Hi Angela, you will need to look more closely at the individual offers because some quote price per person, per night, others will differ. If you can't work it out write to me via the POE contact form with the details, Hotel in question, location etc that you are interested in booking, and I will try to sort it out for you. Thanks for potentially booking through the POE website, it all helps to support this great website and forum.

I presume you mean the Royal Park Hotel in Lancaster Terrace Debbie? Location-wise, for seeing London it would be handy with places walkable or only a few stops away on the Underground---Marble Arch station I suspect.

Also from Heathrow, the train service of Heathrow Express https://www.heathrowexpress.com/   isn't far away. If you have a car, I'd ask about their car parking charges, and don't forget London has a Congestion Charging scheme in force, if you bring a car into London.

Sorry Ron i did not make that very clear,  Yell

But Paul you are right thats the one. They do have parking with a charge but i think we have decided not to rent a car for the 2 days we are in London because of the cost and trying to always find somewhere to park is hard from what i hear so we will rent our car in London for our journey away;-) Thats why i wanted to make sure this is a good locaction for us to walk to places and i hear the bus and train systems there are really good. Thank you for the links also!

Hi Debbie:  I think driving in London would be a nightmare.  You definitely don't need a car there.  The public transportation system is fantastic.  They have people-moving down to a science.  What I would suggest would be to order an Oyster card.  It's the public transportation pass for the London buses and subways.  You can order a card worth say £10 and they just swipe it whenever you use it and you can add more money to it if need be.  I ordered ours from visitbritain.com.

One more suggestion - I think I might take a train to a smaller city or town and rent a car there.  I wouldn't want to try driving in London at all, especially since it takes a while to get used to the reversal of things like the drivers seat, the left side of the road, etc.  And the streets in London are super narrow.
