Lyn, the way you phonetically spelled it sounds correct when I hear it in my head (I hear it said with a Scottish burr).  The people on TV were elongating the word with a long "O" - Edinbur-oh.

I find that lack of politeness in this country is on the increase. I cant believe it, but the older genaration are the worst. They seem to think that only the young should say please and thank you.

Oy is as bad as hey, or hey you. Just not a polite way to attract someones attention. I'll use it on my boys when they aren't listening to me.
