Hi

Old Wyche Road in Great Malvern, Worcestershire, is a very steep residential road, and some say one of the steepest in the country. I can't find a picture of it right now but will try and get one when I'm next up that way.

Porlock Hill near Porlock in Somerset is a 25% ( 1 in 4 grade) hill I drove down once. Can't recollect if any houses might border somewhere along it though, but it is incredibly steep.

Just been looking a photos of Porlock Hill which does have houses dotted along it, so wouldn't that count as residential, or are we to take the question to mean in a built up area? i.e. road with prescribed street lighting with the absence of any speed limit signs, or is in a zonal area of less than 30 mph and signed posted as such?

Thereis a residential road in Gerlan near Bethesda Nth. Wales, so steep thet when as a teenager we tried to drive up, we had to reverse as it needs a very low gear. The vehcle used at the time was an Austin A40 van 196?

Sounds more like a '60s Rolls-C'Nardly Wolf. Rolls down one side of the hill and can hardly make it up the other. Smile

There's a steep, narrow, winding country lane near where I live, its called 'Moleskin'  it has a couple of houses at the bottom and a few at the top,  if that constitutes residential? I remember trying to get up there in my old Peugeot, ended up in first gear going about 2 mph, not sure what the ratio is but its mighty steep!
