Mine was Beadnell in Northumberland.  It was about an hour's drive from our home so we used to go up there several times during the summer.

This photo doesn't really do it justice. The beach stretches for miles and is backed by HUGE sand-dunes.

Beadnell Harbour, Beadnell, Northumberland. 2007.

We lived a stone's throw away from Jacksonville Beach. I remember a least once or twice during the summers they would have to close the beach to people because of shark sitings off the coast, or Portuguese man of war infestations. I also remember the board walk and the amusement rides, the smell of cotton candy and popcorn, holding my papa's hand and riding the Ferris wheel with him. He would rock it and scare me to death. Then when we got off he would look at the operator and say, I guess she doesn't want to be an astronaut any more! Laughing

Krissy, mine was Island Beach too!  I love it there.

I love this beach too, Lime Kiln State Park, about 60 mi. S of Carmel, California.  It was really lovely and peaceful and we were camped on a bluff overlooking the beach, so we got to go to sleep to wave music.  You wouldn't want to swim there though.  It drops off to a depth of about 60 feet, no more than 10 yards from the shore.  And the Pacific Ocean's always c-c-cold!
