Holy Trinity Church in Headington Quarry, Oxford was built through the years June 1848 - November 1849. It is one of the younger Churches in England taking seventeen months to build. The cost of the building was £3,000 and the money was raised by voluntary effort.

C. S. Lewis (Jack) and older brother Warren Hamilton Lewis (Warnie) worshipped at Holy Trinity Church for nearly 31 years.

Rev. Canon Ronald E. Head was the longest serving Vicar at Holy Trinity Church from 1956 to1990

The initials C. S. as in C. S. Lewis stand for Clive Staples. He didn't particularly like the name Clive Staples and was a lot happier with the nickname 'Jack' but how did the nickname come about?

Born in Belfast C. S. Lewis had a little dog called Jacksy (or Jacksie) of whom he was, as a ten year old boy, very fond. Sadly Jacksy was run over and killed by one of the first motorised vehicles in Ireland. Lewis decided to remember his beloved pet dog by being called 'Jacksy' himself and over the years 'Jacksy' became 'Jacks' became 'Jack'.

C. S. Lewis' former home 'The Kilns' is situated at Lewis Close, Risinghurst, Headington, Oxford, England.
