Some day, when I win the big lottery and am independently wealthy, I'm moving to York.  Or anywhere in N. Yorkshire for that matter.  Whitby is also high on my list.

Oh! I love York too, Ruth. I have to go for at least a day every time I am in England. Don't you just love the history? How about the Jorvic Viking Centre? And I love stopping for tea at the tiny little place in the Shambles. :-)

My next trip (whenever that happens to be) I simply must contact our Andy and have him give me a tour of Yorkshire. I'd love to do a James Herriot tour!

Dartmoor in Devon has got to be one of the most beautiful and haunting regions in England. The very atmosphere of this area is other-worldly!

Dartmoor also has its more "gentle" spots, of which Spitchwick is one.

It is a strange mixture of raw wilderness and quaint islands of civilization!

I just love the place--including the wild ponies! They will approach you for a handout of food, but you are best to give them a wide berth as they can be very aggressive.

I really dont think you can beat the Lake District in Cumbria, Its got the lot. A small place called Edale in the peak district national park is another unbeatable spot, but realy there is some stunning places in most counties.

The scenery in many parts of Lancashire can certainly hold its own with any of the best scenery in the UK!

Great shots from one of the best scenic photographers, IMHO, on POE!
