Ah, now I see. Guess it was a little before my time.

So how old were you in this picture?

Hi Peter:  I like it!  I read a story about the Who once and it mentioned mods and rockers.  But I think the Who were mods, if I'm not mistaken.  Are you familiar with the Fonz from Happy Days?  I think he was a Teddy Boy.  By the way, I spend a lot of money to keep my hair brown.  lol

It was 111° here today, yesterday 112°.  When it's over 110° we have a reverse chill factor, where the breeze actually makes it feel hotter than the still air.

The Who came from near where my wife was brought up (Ealing, West London) when they attended Acton Grammar School.  They bought their gear from Jim Marshall's shop in Hanwell when he started making guitar amplifiers, and The Who wanted to be the loudest band on stage and kept pushing Mr Marshall for more power out of his amps.

I thought Peter looks a bit like Tommy Steele. Ruth---one summer weekend in Weston-Super-Mare, zillions of scooters turn up and they're everywhere.  The Fonz has the Teddy boy hair style ( almost) but he really needs the shoes too---and the jacket! But, I don't think that might cut it with his high school friends!

Ruth--arguably another near impression of an American Teddy Boy would also be in American Graffiti with the guy driving the '51 Mercury, leader of his Pharaohs gang that shanghai Curt for awhile. A quick trip to the gents outfitters and he'd be in business.

I still can't believe it's Indiana Jones driving the black Chevy though; amazing.

I reckon my dear old Dad must have been a mod cos he had a scooter lol maybe thats why I tended to veer towards them too,I remember being a pillion on them and my husband used to have one till he had an accident, then decided 4 wheels was safer than 2 lol.... but my sister was and still is into motorbikes so she was a rocker. One of my lads has 2 motorbikes. Anyone remember  the parkers they used to wear with fur edged around the hood? No crash helmets then!

Parkers on scooters= mods.

Leathers on motorbikes= rockers.

Drape jackets, D/As, B/ Creapers, boot lace ties and luminous sox=Teddy boys.

I was a rocker during the week and a teddy boy on Saterday nights. You didnt wear your drapes on a motor bike, they were to expensive to ruin.

And petrol was 1s 6d a gallon in them days. Work that out in todays money.

Why thank you Ruth. That photo must have been taken in the early 80s.
