Thank you for the memories, my late hubby when he was in his cups could do a great Albert and the Lion.  Though the aussies weren't quite sure how to take it.

I lived in Blackpool for  30 years before coming to Oz,

Hi Jan, Blackpool, like most other UK seaside towns has suffered from British tourists taking cheap package tours abroad, over the last couple of decades. However I'm glad to say that Blackpool has turned the corner and is now on the up. Its still the best seaside resort in Europe and £millions has been spent recently on new coastal defence's and the town itself. I have added some decent pics on this site of Blackpool that may bring back good memories for you.I live just up the coast at Cleveleys.

(Can I suguest to anyone wishing to visit Blackpool for a few days who doesnt want to stay in the hustle and bustle of a 'livley' seaside resort, why not stay outside Blackepool at one of the smaller neighbouring towns, such as Poulton, Cleveleys, Lytham or St Anns. you have exellent public transport into the centre of Blackpool (10 mins) without the 'rowdy' night-time noise, and no overnight parking problems).MikeSmile
