Heard my first Red-shafter Flicker this morning. A sure sign that autumn is in the air, as they head for the mountains during the summer.

That's exciting Sue. I thought I heard a Piliated Woodpecker last night but I could not see him. But lots of Cardinals, Blue Jays, Tufted Titmouse, Sparrows, Chickadees and Downy Woodpeckers. I'll have to look up that Flicker,

i have never seen as many birds this year i have had blue tits,coal tits nesting in boxes,siskins,red-polls,and linnets all nesting --its a bit quieter now all the doves have migrated there are still a few stragglers left,a lot of doves have been targeted by a sparrow hawk nesting nearby.

That's a shame James. We have a lot of morning doves here. I love feeding my birds!
