As for the travelling fish and chip Van, here in Fairlight we have one that visits on a Friday evening every week.

Aren't there any shops or pubs where you live?

How big is Fairlight? I have to consultate Wikipedia !

Hi Patrick, Fairlight is about 5 kilometers from Hastings heading towards Rye/Dover. All we have here is a Pub [the Cove] and a Post Office. Just google Fairlight, that will bring up a few pages or alternatively Google Earth is a good tool to view any area.

It is a very popular area for Walkers.....leaving Hastings and following walking guides it will take you over the Firehills and towards Pett Level where the land flattens out [much better for the old legs]
