I didn't remember those London boroughs being at the top(average life expectancy for women 89 in Kensington and Chelsea).

Where is Clyde in Scotland? Sorry to sound ignorant but I don't know that region. Article says the life expectancy there is the same as Palestine and lower than Albania.

What are fried Mars bars? In the comment section of the article someone wrote that fried Mars is a common dish in Glasgow. What are Mars?

Hi Kip, Clyde is the river that runs through Glasgow. Once  a huge shipbuilding area. Deep Fried Mars Bars are a Scottish thing. A Mars bar is a very chocolatey based sweet, but you probably know that anyway. The Scots developed a habit af frying them in oil as you would fish......for the classic delicacy Fish and Chips. Never tried it myself though ! ! !

I was thinking it meant something else. We don't have Mars bars here-Do we--fellow Americans? I knew it sounded vaguely familiar but it's not something I would think of to fry.

Every time I look at your avatar I want a drink!

Deep fried Mars bars are pretty common down here in the West Country too, but I think it's mostly the "grockles" (holidaymakers) who eat them.  YUK!!  Really good for the cholesterol!!!  LOL
