I just have a gut feel about this, from the moment I saw them!  But I have looked at loads of Jurassic photos and so far haven't found a good match.

The Old Harry Rocks are a possibility.  With all the dreadful landslips of course the coastline has probably changed a bit!  And it is possible that after the storms you have had, that jetty/groin whatever, was washed away!

It's not Seaton Cathy, I remember the place very well and it doesn't match. The link you've put in above throws up some very similar photos of the beach, what's bothering me are those big buildings in the background, they could have been demolished now of course, I can't fathom out what they are or where they could be.

And as for the jetty, as you say it could be long gone.

There are some what look like harbour walls, which has me thinking maybe Lyme Regis harbour, from over by the Charmouth area.

Wheatley (NOT) Please help us to identify this location

Could that be Bournemouth in the distance?

I'm thinking now it could be Weymouth harbour, with the Isle of Portland in the backgound there are a couple of tall buildings on Portland, but I'm not sure, I'm going round in circles here. One thing though I think you are correct about it being the Jurassic Coast - just which bit Smile

It could be Bournemouth. I'm going to Dorset in July, this picture will be going with me Wink

That photo on the link is the best likeness yet Cathy. Looking at the two photos side by side the buildings seem to be in the right place and the land the right shape.

I think this may be Hengistbury Head which is between Bournemouth and Milford-on-Sea, looking back towards Bournemouth.

I've found a jetty/groin just further down the coast at Hengistbury Head Nature Reserve on Google Earth which could be the other picture.
