U S M

Don't want to put you off but you might like to read the following from a very respected test site, DPreview

You can use the new STM lenses with your older camera bodies

If you do, it does not mean you suddenly have a faster AF. The older body such as th 600d or 500d or 550d will still focus poorly with the new STM lenses.

Have seen DPreview in the past, but have not seen the above comment- which lens were they talking about at the time Dave?

I am thinking on the lines of the 18-135 which nearly all the reviews I have seen give a good report . Just like the idea of a bit more reach in the walkabout range but did not want to go bonkers with the 18-250 or more that are out there now. You know the times when a shot presents itself and you have the wrong lens on and miss out. Have been using the 40 prime and that one has given some crisp results so far. The wording that you put, does that infer not attaining focus or just not as quick off the mark?
