I'm back! Can't tell what it is, I would hazard that it might be a Crow. What do you think Andy? I see that Bill Swan has commented that it could be a raptor.

This is the kind of picture that makes me truly homesick. I love it when the hawthorn bloom.

It could be a Wood pigeon, that's true.

I was thinking that there was sun reflecting off the black back of  a Crow myself. But to be honest, unless Gary knows what it is, there will be no real identification, but it sure is fun giving it a shot.

I'm going to stick my neck out now and say it's definitely a wood pigeon. It has the central white bars on the wings which, to me, make the identification for sure.

I'll bow to your excellent eye sight (or better computer) as I can't even see any wing bars.

I miss the call of the Wood Pigeon in the mornings, though we have Collard Doves over here now, and when I hear them, I can just close my eyes and think I'm home.

Here is my Woody

He's a beauty! I have several pairs in the garden lately, especially in the tree at the bottom of the garden, they're the first to fly when the resident sparrowhawk comes a looking for prey!!

Thank you Ruth. that was taken a couple of weeks ago.I love Dartmoor. I dare not open that little shed in the foreground. I think the 'Hound' lived in there!

It wouldn't be a moor without a hound, Ray.  lol.  It's a beautiful shot!  I love that stone wall.

I find this picture very unique and very interesting. I really like it.

You do need to click on the thumbnail to enlarge it to get the right effect though.
