Hi

Just before I go on the road  for the day Sally mentions monitor colour calibration

before any attempt is made to set up the monitor for monitor colour calibration you should first consider a few things on the hardware of your system

1: The age of the monitor

if its a crt type ( one of the bulky type like an old TV )

Then simply don't bother you will never be happy with any results

If the monitor is a recently new type of the flat screen LCD or Plasma type

then the monitor can be used

2: The other piece of the hardware on your system that is critical to this operation being done in a satisfactory way is the graphics card

If as you say you have Photoshop CS3 and now CS4 not to

mention Lightroom 2.6 then to get the best out of this software your

graphics card should be at least up to the spec of a single  XFX ATI Radeon HD 4650 600Mhz 1GB DDR2 but the twin version would be preferred

This would be the first thing I would look at & replace if needed before attempting

monitor colour calibration

And just a quick one on why yours & eveyones uploaded images to POE looking a bit on the faded and sad side its nothing you have done when they are uploaded to POE they are automatically down sized and reduced it the DPI  content  by POEs server to reduce bandwidth and save space

Your very good friend
