This looks more like a Hawk or Eagle to me. The closest I could come to it is the Harpy Eagle but I'm not overly convinced of that. All I know is that if it is an Owl, then its not indiginous to the British Isles (or America).

Thanks for liking my photo. It's a Owl, but I can't for the life of me remember what type of Owl.  It was taken at the Eye Show in Suffolk, I believe 2009.

Still not convinced its an owl. I googled The Eye Show 2009. Bird display. Owls. Eagles. My name....just kidding. Owls usually have a facial disc (its how they hear things) which this one seems to be missing. I did spy a Brown Snake Eagle, and African bird that looks allot like this, though not a bird I've ever heard of being used in a Bird of Prey display.

Oh, I love a good mystery.

The closest similar bird I can find is the Harpy Eagle!
