If you do your planning to visit Portwenn I think you will need to look on your map for Port Isaac. If you type in Port Isaac into the google search top left of the page you will be able to see whatever photos other members have added to POE and have your own tour. Also on the Port Isaac page if you scroll down there will be able to read up some info, such is the power and usefulness of POE. | Chris Johnson Posts: 7 Joined: 17th Jul 2012 Location: USA | quotePosted at 05:04 on 18th July 2012 thanx to everyone , and i'm sorry for the port wenn comment , i knew it wasnt wenn , but could'nt (at the time) remember if it was isaac, or isabelle . but as i was saying , there isn't a hill , river , lake , castle , site of iron age remains, or thousand+ year old building that i do not want to take in all my senses. i absolutetly and completely love and adore your beautiful island nation!!! unfortunately i am not a man of great wealth and will have to choose my destinations with great care , but would like to get a broad spectrum, and a train pass.after all this is not a bucket list........this is the bucket . |

Cornwall is a great place to start, as well as Port Isaac, I love Mevagissey, Mousehole and Falmouth. If you have the chance the Eden Project is worth a visit. Lands End is of course famous for being the furthest West you can go in England. It's a lot more touristy than when I used to visit. You used to be able to go right up to the cliff edge and all that was there was a tea shop and the famous Lands End sign. Unfortunately all that has changed as it became more commercialised. Bodmin Moor is stark in comparison, a bleak wilderness if you like that sort of thing and then of course there is Devon, which is one of my favourite counties in England. |
