My great-grandfather Varcoe immigrated from Lawhippett in the Parish of Lanteglos in 1865. I was so very interested in the photos of this area. I especially loved the hidden garden. On the 22 September 1857 my great-great grandfather's farm was sold at auction at Lawhippett, in the parish of Lanteglos. I do not know what Lawhippett means. Is that a street or what?

My father was born and lived in Burton on Trent until he was 15 and his family immigrated to New York. Does anyone know of the "Rice" family from that area?
