The Anglican parish church at Hibaldstow, Lincolnshire, is dedicated to St. Hybald (perhaps once Abbott of Bardney), a seventh century Saxon, who is said to be buried at Hibaldstow,('stow' means burial place). During the rebuilding of the parish church in 1866 a stone coffin was unearthed. It contained the bones of a tall and powerful man and it was said at the time that they might well have been the mortal remains of St. Hygbald. The date of origin of the original church is unknown. The original tower collapsed in 1875. The present tower dates from 1958. There are various spellings of the saint's name including, Hybald, Hybbald, Hibbald, Hilbald, Hugbald, Hygbald.
