Mary Rose, King Henry VIII's warship undergoing preservation Mary Rose sank just outside Portsmouth harbour and was buried in silt. A substantial chunk of her was preserved and recovered and decades of preservation work began on the surviving hull and artefacts found at the wreck site. She sits in semi-darkness being constantly sprayed with preserving chemicals. You can see her at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard.
