Torver Commons 2, Coniston

Torver Commons 2, Coniston

Looking eastwards from the top of Torver Common across Coniston water to the slopes of Grizedale Forest. The couple in the distance seemed to be debating which way to go! It has to be said some of the 'paths' across the common are little more than sheep trails. We ended up taking a wrong turn a bit later on but eventually found the shore albeit not where we intended.

Sunnybank Jetty Conistonwater

Sunnybank Jetty Conistonwater

The jetty at Sunnybank about 2/3rds the way down the western shore of Conistonwater. This is where we should have got off the boat to commence our walk, but they were short of a boat so only making the shorter trips. Which meant we got off at Torver and walked down to Sunnybank, and glad we did in the end. The southern fringes of Grizedale Forest on the far shores.

Conistonwater fence

Conistonwater fence

One of the many fences dotted around the various lakes that just seem to go out into the waters for no real reason. This one on the western shores of Conistonwater between Torver and Sunnybank.

Boathouse at Sunnybank Conistonwater

Boathouse at Sunnybank Conistonwater

A fairly well looked after boathouse at Sunnybank on the western shore of Conistonwater. It is on private land hence the considerable mileage of barbed wire in evidence. But all the same always worth pointing a camera at!!

A Coniston Dog

A Coniston Dog

I simply had to upload this, an icon of the English countryside. A beautiful Welsh Border Collie. This gorgeous little chap, or chappess, tagged on to us as we had a walk round the Coniston Boatyard area 15-12-11 during a break in the weather. It belonged to one of the lads working in the boatyard but followed us around for 20 minutes, on and off. A truly beautiful image of England I think you will agree.
