Leeds Town Hall

Leeds Town Hall

Leeds Town Hall was built between 1853 and 1858 to a design by the architect Cuthbert Brodrick. It was designated a Grade I listed building in 1951. Opened by Queen Victoria in 1858, it is one of the largest town halls in the United Kingdom and was the tallest building in Leeds at 225 ft for 108 years from 1858 until 1966, when the Park Plaza Hotel was built to 253 ft tall and thus claimed the title for 7 years before it to was succeeded by West Riding House at 260ft. Leeds is the largest city in the county of West Yorkshire in Northern England, approximately 170 miles north of central London.
