So, presumably William Billings was a Colonial that fought in King Philips War?   Recently on Who Do You Think You Are? ( UK) they featured TV presenter Richard Madeley whose very great grand-dad fought in this war, and the records they found about him were in the US. In Boston I think if I recall right, in the MA. State Archives, and also in Rhode Island--- " He [Richard M]  then went further south to Rhode Island, where Richard’s 4x great-grandfather was involved in King Phillip’s war and the colonisation of the Native Americans."

The only William Billings I could find off hand was a Capt. William Billings. b. circa 1650 Taunton, Somerset. Married Hannah Sterry in Stonington, Connecticut and had daughter Mary Billings (1689-1776) and died in Stonington, CT. in 1713. Make any sense?.

UK BBC TV can't be viewed in the US, but maybe BBC America might show the UK version of Who DoYou Think You Are?  as we also get to see the US versions of it the BBC show over here.

Here, Richard Madeley discusses his up-comming appearance on WDYTYA? and the "not very nice man" mentioned is his gt grandad above in Kings Phillip's War, regarding the role he'd played in it in Rhode Island.
