Budleigh's western beach Today had a hazy morning but still people wanted to be by the water on a Bank Holiday. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Budleigh's eastern promenade cafe It's turned out nice again. After a sultry start the sea calmed as the sun got hotter. Ice cream was selling like hot cakes! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Budleigh Salterton Cricket Club Rowan Tree Cricket was in full swing this Bank Holiday Saturday, the 1st team was playing Abbotskerswell. I don't know the score or how the game was going, but the home team's rowan tree was looking in full bloom. It was resplendant in luscious red berries set off by the green leaves and blue sky This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Budleigh boat This fishing boat of Budleigh was high and dry this Bank Holiday. The sea was a bit choppy this morning too. The forecast promises for improvement. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Downhill alley This shot gives little evidence of the steepness of this path, but it needs a handrail to steady a weary traveller. It is a path going downhill, passing Umbrella Cottage in Budleigh, leading down a flight of steps to the road and a little way onto Budleigh's pebbled beach. Not for the faint-hearted! This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Evening colours in Budleigh Salterton I wonder if the two people on their paddle boards got home before suppertime. The sky was well lit for them but the light was disappearing quickly. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Green Door Frankie Vaughan had a 1956 song called "Green Door" and whenever I go past this sight I can't but help thinking of it and start humming to myself. Is that a sign of old age? This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Blue Plaque Having tried to obtain a shot of this building before I thought I would try a different angle for more effect. From this angle there is no telegraph pole and there is no "street furniture" to mar the view. I did lose a sight of sea to the right but obtained more to the left. The lighting is early evening also. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Budleigh Life Budleigh through the microscope! These midges were everywhere. They were darting about as I was walking my dog on a tree lined path. They were lit as they flew through shafts of sun light. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Budleigh Life Here is larger shot of the dancing midges, the microscopic dancers of Budleigh Salterton. This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Budleigh Salterton - Lawn I know this area of Budleigh quite well since the end building of this row (to the left and out of sight) is where the Doctor's Surgery is sited. There is possibly an Edwin Lutyens style in them. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: FUJIFILM Model: FinePix S200EXR |
Budleigh Salterton Creamery detail The Creamery in Budleigh Salterton has detailed brickwork on its frontage. Here is the frieze supporting the first floor bay window over the shop doorway. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 550D |
Budleigh in the sun It was a grand time in the sun today - much better than the rain and winds we've been having lately. I watched the fisherman skilfully land his boat and winch it out of the water to unload his catch. This picture appears in the following picture tour: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 70D |
Budleigh Blue Plaque I was passing Joyce Denny's house today and the usual car parking bay on Fore Street Hill was empty. I took the opportunity of repositioning myself to get a better shot of the house without the "bulky street furniture" for Edward. I must admit it gives a better impression - but the telegraph pole is still there! This picture appears in the following picture tours: Camera Make: Canon Model: Canon EOS 70D |
