Well we all know about Magna Carta now and this is the American Bar Association's memorial to the charter was established in 1957. The Magna Carta that was established on this day 8oo years ago though only lasted 10 weeks. King John not happy at being forced into agreeing the charter appealed to Rome and the Pope decreed that it was null and void having been signed under duress and the principles set a precedent that was unsettling in the Pope's eyes. However it was not long before King John died in 1216 and Henry 111 took the throne but was only 9 years old so England was ruled by The Great Knight William Marshal who reinstated a revised version of the original with a number of the controversial clauses removed. Once Henry become of age he too revised the charter and issued the Magna Carta that we all know today and brought the Barons War to an end. The American connection and the rest as they say is history.

Nice shot Vince. I did notice that all the complications and revisions were not mentioned on the news this evening.

Richard Starky seems to be the only one to put the full story over.
