The present Government is to take £20 million from the TA and has ordered cuts in training. Can that be right and I wonder does that mean the TA will be fighting alongside regular soldiers without appropriate training? Is this the thin end of the wedge for the TA; gone within a few years maybe?

Julie, I'm from USA and even I cannot understand what you are saying.  You sound like you've been to Haight-Ashbury too many times!

I know you've been on POE nearly 2 mo. longer than I because you greeted me in "User Introductions" last July.  I even sent my phone number by message from POE because you only live 250 miles from me. Several members live in Arizona; God only knows why they live there.

Along with my friend Lancashirelove, Peace be with you.

So what happened to the Territorial Army and what was or is their function?  I had never noticed this thread before.  Perhaps they are similar to the National Guard over here.  But the Guard is not for holidaymakers--they've been diverted to the Mid-East.

James I know exactly where your current profile picture comes from.  The Phil Silver's Show aka Sgt. Bilko.  Used to watch that whilst a child.  It hasn't run on T.V. here since the 1970's.  I'm getting so old I think soon I'll be referred to as the Royal and Ancient just like St. Andrews lol.
