If you search for Imber on Poe, it has Awaiting Pictures. Perhaps not suprising as the town has been empty since 1943 when the Ministry of Defence moved all the villagers out from their home on Salisbury Plain and the village has been off limits ever since, except for a few days of the year.

Christmas is one of the times it is opened for people to return to it, and on the BBC here, you can see a little bit of it......http://news.bbc.co.uk/local/wiltshire/hi/people_and_places/history/newsid_8426000/8426188.stm

It's about 10 miles north-west of Stonehenge in the middle of Salisbury Plain.

Must have been very sad for those people who had lived there for generations Paul.

I agree Stephanie! And promised to be able to return after the war to find out you could never return. I think of all the disappointment and heartache.

Wow, that's weird, Paul.  How'd they ever single out Imber as the new training village?
