Has anyone seen or been to this castle? apparently it is/was a beautiful castle. In the Sun paper today there is a picture of it, when the photographer, down loaded it onto his computer there was an image of a girl at the window (which has no glass) I read the comments but hardly anyone believes it they mostly think it is a fake

Gwrych Castle, at least the one standing today, is a Regency-era pile--an example of the so-called Gothic Revival-- built to replace the earlier castle destroyed by Parliamentary troops during the Civil Wars. It has been derelict for quite a while. If the "ghost girl" does indeed exist, it is likely that she is a relatively modern spirit. The Sun photo is interesting, but I think in the electronic photo world it would be quite easy to fake. Then on the other hand . . .

Here is the "Castles of Wales" webpage for the castle:

I haven't been there personally, but it does look like a very interesting ruin. Apparently, there is movement afoot to possibly restore all or part of the castle.

Here's an interesting bit of ghostly speculation from the Gwrych Castle Preservation Trust website:

http://www.gwrychtrust.co.uk/html/ghostly_gwrych.html

Spooky stuff!

This site also allows the user to click on several "buttons" for a variety of information regarding the castle. It appears to be a very sad place with a not very happy history--almost as if it were cursed.
