an advert caught my eye today-----a 2001 Jaguar Daimler; one careful lady owner; low mileage; only generally used travelling between palaces and castles; a host of optional extras not usually found in your typical Jaguar Daimler brochure.  http://hmthequeensdaimler.com/

While it mentions it being the only car to have been especially built for a Queen of England, G M of Canada in 1935, especially built a McLaughlin-Buick for King Edward VIII. In 1936, he drove off in it after abdicating to marry divorcee Wallis Simpson.

I shall certainly watch that with interest Paul. What do you reckon it might fetch?

Well, the Queen learnt to drive by a lady army driving instructor who was a friend of mine, who'd told me what she did in the army. And as you're into painting Cathy, her brother was the painter, Graham Sutherland.

As for price Ron, I think your guess is as good as mine.Smile

Perhaps out of interest, an arguably better known Jaguar was the 1960 2.4 MK II driven by Inspector Morse. I believe that fetched £53,200 at auction in 2002 and underwent a restoration in excess of £100,000.

I wouldn't mind owning the car and feel like a queen myself driving it. But I don't think they would even consider my little pocket of change!!! UndecidedMore so I think they would laugh at it!!!

I saw an auction programme where a pair of Queen Victoria's bloomers fetched £4,500! So hopefully the car should fetch more and be far more useful Paul! Laughing
