I agree with Jason. 

I personally think there should be an age cap on driving.  But I understand how older people need to hold on to as much independence  as they can, which is great, as long as it doesn't effect the safety of others.

And it wouldn't surprise me if it turned out he's never taken a driving test in his life; prior to driving tests, you only needed a doctor's note and then off to your local council to get your licence.

It would be interesting to know what his driving record is like. 

It is quite possible that he has never had an accident or they would probably have banned him by now. 

It is much easier for the older people to get straight into a car and drive themselves somewhere than have to wait for public transport in all weathers.
