Memorial to King Henry I in ForburyGardens, Reading

The Cross was erected in the late 19th century to the memory of King Henry I of England, whose remains were interred at the high altar of Reading Abbey in 1136. The exact location of his tomb is unknown, following the destruction of Reading Abbey by King Henry VIII. A survey to locate the position of the high altar is currently being done using ground penetrating radar.
