About Beaconsfield

If you fancy a stroll amongst miniature houses, shops and churches, this is the place to be. This imaginative model village, found close to the station is just one of Beaconsfield's many attractions. It is of great appeal to young and old alike.

On arrival in Beaconsfield you are immediately struck by the spaciousness of its wide streets and the wonderful show of Victorian buildings and houses in the main street which date from between the 16th to the 18th century. Attractive coaching inns are also a feature of the town, for it developed in the romantic days of coach travel when it was an important staging post on the London to Oxford Road. The Chequers, a coaching inn of the 17th century still retains its timeless charm and many of it's original features.

The flint and bath stone building of the parish church with its splendid 15th century tower crowned with intricate pinnacles, is of interest to all. The church has some restoration work from the middle of the 19th century but rather than detract, this adds to the beauty of the church. The interior is rich with church treasures and in the tree lined churchyard there are majestic monuments and old gravestones.

Beaconsfield has some pretty parts, and is central for many interesting visits these being as diverse as Legoland to Royal Windsor.
