Creator of Waddesdon, Baron Ferdinand de Rothschild, who was a great fan of France and its arts, together with his french architect Destailleur and his gardner Laine, built this magnificent Chateau overlooking the vale of Aylesbury. Today it is full of the Barons arts and treasures collected over 35 years and it houses one of the finest collections of French 18th Century decorative arts in the world.You will find work by Dutch masters, portraits by Gainsborough and Reynolds, A dinner service made for King George III and Savonnerie carpets and Sevres porcelain plus much more. Outside you will find one of the finest Victorian gardens in Britain with exceptional seasonal displays, colourful shrubs and trees, a rose and childrens gardens, wine cellars and a wonderful aviary which is home to some wonderful exotic birds.
