Blencathra from Castlerigg Stone Circle

Blencathra, also known as Saddleback is one of the most northerly mountains in the English Lake District. It has six separate fell tops, of which the highest is the Hallsfell Top (2848 ft).

Gosh this shot brings back some awful memories. In the late 1950s I and a friend climbed Blencathra. On beginning the way down thick mist came, we carried on for a while until we found we could barely see in front of our face. We sat down and waited hoping it would clear. It did after about an hour and then found we were about two yards from a sheer drop. We learned a lesson there!
