About Foremark

Foremark lies in spacious open coutryside close to the banks of the River Trent in a hilly, well wooded area of mainly pastureland. It is known for its beautiful Reservoir, set amid picturesque landscaped countryside, well stocked with Rainbow and Brown trout and bounded by habitats for many species of wildlife. It is a village of stone and brick cottages and farmhouses. Foremark Hall, once the principal residence of the village, is now a prep-school.

The parish church of St.Saviour dates 1662 and is in the Gothic style with a Renaissance interior. The church is serene and quite lovely, it has a 17th-century screen and a three deck pulpit. The communion rails are in iron and most likely made by Robert Bakewell, who made the screens to Derby Cathedral. The church has many other fine treasures and is worth seeing.

Other nearby places to visit include; Donnington Park Museum which records British motor racing history, Calke Abbey a NT property and the Trent and Mersy canal flows close-by.
