a Picturesque Village in the county of Devon

About Lustleigh

Rather special, in a favoured position close to the clear waters of the River Bovey, is the lovely old village of Lustleigh. This picturesque place has a long history, it was first mentioned in the Domesday Book. Of special note is the 13th-century Parish church, built of local granite, the church has a huge clock tower sweeping high above the thickly thatched cottages of the village. The cottages, like the church, are strongly built of Dartmoor granite as if to defy the icy winds that blast the moors in the depths of wintertime.

The sheer beauty of this area attracts many visitors. This is good walking country and Lustleigh Cleeve is particularly attractive. In the wooded areas there is a wealth of rare wildlife to be discovered and enjoyed.

Of interest in the village is the old village inn which dates from the 15th-century and after a long day's treck, the inn provides a haven for tired but happy walkers!

Lustleigh is close to the larger town of Bovey Tracy and nearby attractions include Becky Falls and Hound Tor Medieval Village.
