Rockbeare hill

In 1904, W. H. C. Nation Esq. presented to the National Trust for the places of Historic Interest or Natural Beauty, a piece of land about 21½ acres on Rockbeare Hill for a public park or recreation ground to be named Prickly Pear Blossom Park, so named after his book "Prickly Pear Blossom". It is situated about 600 feet above sea level and commands extensive views of the surrounding country. Mr. Nation has also built several model cottages for agricultural labourers. its a shame its all so overgrown

Very interesting info Pat. I bet this undergrowth has grown a bit more since you took this picture.
