a Seaside Town in the county of East Sussex

About Eastbourne

Music, many of England's seaside town's have long been associated with music and concerts are regularly performed on seafronts up and down the country but there can be no finer setting for summer military music, than Eastbourne's Grand Parade. Here, the sea-front echoes to the sound of military music from the elegant, torquoise topped, Edwardian bandstand. Lively concerts are performed through out the season and by the time the clock strikes 3 in the afternoon, which signals the start, most of the 3,500 seats in the vast areana have been taken up. The music is often stirring, it is music for pure pleasure.

Eastbourne, is a genteel town, that owes it's distictiveness to the 7th Duke of Devonshire who expanded and developed the town in the mid 10th-century. The town has attractive Victorian houses, gracious public buildings and plenty of hotels and inns and it can proudly boast 9 beautiful public gardens that are a glorious riot of colour and a joy to visit at any time of year.

This resort is a favoured sailing centre and in summer time the sea is awash with cheerful yachts and brightly painted vessels of every description. The beach is mainly shingle with some sand being revealed at low tide. The town has a good art gallery and much of the town's history is recorded in the local museum. Eastbourne offers a relaxing and pleasurable time to young and old alike. It is well worth a visit.
