Rolling Stone Brian Jones Bronze Bust

The late Brian Jones who was born in Cheltenham on 28th February 1942. His life is remembered by the placing of a Bronze Bust mounted on display in Beechwood Arcade, Cheltenham. The photos show Brian's grave at the cemetery (top) and the sculptor, Maurice Juggins preparing the Bust for display in October 2005. With him at the bottom is David Reynolds who ran the Cheltenham Fan Club (1996-2006),

St Mary's Church is the only surviving medieval building in Cheltenham. It has been in continuous use for 850 years. The magnificent stained glass of the windows is late Victorian as is the woodwork. A notable feature of the church is the spire and bell tower which contains a peal of twelve bells. The upper part of the tower dates from 1200 and the broach spire was added early in the fourteenth century.

Holst Birthplace Museum, in Cheltenham, Gloucestershire. This is the Regency terrace house where Gustav Holst, composer of The Planets was born in 1874. The museum contains many of his personal belongings including his piano on which much of his music was composed.

This photo was taken from a second floor window of the Municipal Offices of Cheltenham Borough Council early one sunny morning. It shows the diagonal parking bays facing the famous Long Gardens on an early Sunday morning in June, 1983 before the bays were reversed. The former Regal Cinema can be seen on the far right end of the shot before it was demolished a few years later. It is now a modern office block.

At the southern end of the Municipal Office Gardens on the Promenade is Neptune's Fountain which was designed by Joseph Hall, and constructed by R.L. Boulton and Sons in 1892. The fountain draws water from the River Chelt which flows below the fountain through a large culvert.

St. Mary's Church is located in the centre of the town and is noted for the funeral of The Rolling Stone founder, Brian Jones on the 10th July 1969. He was buried at Cheltenham's Cemetery and Crematorium.
