The Old Baptist Chapel in Tewkesbury
Looking down one of Tewkesbury's many alley ways. The black and white timber-framed building on the left is the old Baptist Chapel which was in use until 1805. Originally a family dwelling the building was adapted into a place of worship in the belief that religion should be centred around the family and home as opposed to the monumental churches and rather impersonal clergy. Believed to be one of the oldest Baptist Chapels in England.
What a wonderful old building for a church and I rather like the philosophy behind it! It's much prettier than most austere Baptist chapels and having seen the pictures I would love to go and visit it one day.
