About Richmond upon Thames

Standing as it does between two large areas of parkland and being set on an exceptionally attractive reach of the River Thames is Richmond's special blessing, for it is this that gives it one of the best positions of any of London's towns.

Richmond is pure delight for in the midst of what is now a bustling commercial centre there is a multitude of elegant buildings, built in the 18th-century when Richmond was a fashionable resort. Richmond Hill and the old lanes of this area are lined with beautiful houses and there are wonderful views all around.

Very much a place of today, Richmond has a lively Arts and Restaurant scene and all that remains of the great Royal palace of yesteryear is a Tudor gateway situated on Richmond Green, a beautiful area surrounded by graceful houses of the 17th and 18th-century.

For splendid Thames views, magnificent greens and superb architecture, Richmond is well worth a visit
