Arden Hall - Bredbury - Stockport

Former Manor House of the Ardern Family at Bredbury. There has been Arden Hall on this site since 1331. That wabble and daub building was rebuilt in 1597. the moated house was used to house Cromwell's troops during the Siege of Manchester during the civil war. The last male/ William Ardern died in 1850 having sold this house and others to pay of gambling debts. Since then time it has been used as a farm and more lately for industrial purposes.
